Don’t count out a loose derailleur hanger, especially for creaks under pedalling load. After greasing eight pivots, pedals and bottom bracket - sure enough, hanger was loose. 

In my defence (umhhh...), the hanger bolts are not externally accessible and sit on the inside of the chain stay so did not get the once over treatment.

My feedback:

Cheaper and way more then enough stopping power. Check out CRC.

Got Saints on the big bike so have a good feel for both brakes.

I am pushing 240 LB without gear and running a 8/7" setup on the little bike. More then enough stopping power.

My feedback:

Pushing 230 LB + so stopping power is fairly crucial.

Was running the Elixir CR front for about three months. Good brakes but did come across the following issues:
a. Blowing through brakes pads
b. Bleeding was a issue
c. Never could get the same feel after switching out pads. Had to do some major fine tuning.
d. Cheap design/assembly

Got a replacement front Saint and could not be happier. The ergonomics are comparable to my previous Louise FR's so this brake feels right at home.
The craftsman ship of the Shimano is far above the Avids. The caliper and lever assembly really do inspire confidence. No cut corners in the design, assembly and hardware spec.
Have been running them since October and no negative feedback yet. Have yet to come across any sort of fading as mentioned above.
As for the cost of brake pads, shop around. Online (CRC) you are looking at about $29 CAD which is right in line with all other pads.

Any one know of a LBS that has/will have 661 helmets IN STOCK?

My definition of IN STOCK is when the product is sitting on the shelve at the store when I walk in through the door. Yes, any store can bring in the helmets through Norco (Boooooo!!) but would like to try them on for size before pulling the trigger.

Helmet in question is the 08 Flight line up.

Ride the Lightning (NWD 4) is still on regular viewing rotation for myself.
Made the mistake of buying 5 and 6.
Definitely passing on 8.

First off, my sincere condolences to husband and family of fallen rider (Suzanne??).

CarMan - as DB stated above, you are a real life hero and deserve the recognition for it. Not only did you recognize the need for life sustaining measures but you maintained your cool under pressure and managed to follow through. It's one thing knowing CPR but actually having to perform the skill when there is a life in the balance, a skill on its own.

I guess this would be a perfect time to plug the importance of knowing your basic CPR. Takes a short time to learn, very inexpensive course but could save the life of a stranger or loved one. Not sure if they are teaching CPR in schools now a days but it sure is more important than knowing how to bake carrot cake.
