I don’t know how anyone can call Justin a racist . Have a look at his record with bringing in refugees from Syria and other countries when nobody else would take them. How many minorities are in his cabinet.

uhhhh... because Justin admitted it was racist? That was your first clue.

Re: NBR Confessions

Back on topic of Confessions.

1) I think people who wear blackface are racist.

2) I think people who don't think it's racist for other people to wear blackface are ignorant.

Certainly blown out of proportion.

not really

Why not?
I'm hoping you'll support your response with something more than hyperbole.

I don't think it was blown out of proportion because the leader of our country has committed an act of racism. I used to see Justin as someone who support immigrants. Now, please explain why you asked that question? Are you looking for a debate on if the act was racist or not?

Of* not or

I dont give a flying fuck about blackface

If people actually cared it wouldn't conveniently come up right before an election.

Kinda...  If the PM cared he would have brought it up before the campaign.

Re: Does anyone carry bear spray?

I just rode the suicide creek area of Powell river by myself last month, no bear spray, just a 4" knife. I kept yelling "here boy", like i was with a dog but i wasn't and yelling "wooooo" a lot too.

Re: Sunshine Coast Shuttle Sat. Aug. 17

I would but i'm not really into shuttling. I just got back from 3 days in Powell River and would really like to explore Sechelt to Gibsons via the BCBR route. I'm not sure if i could pull that off this weekend but PM me and we could set something up.

My animal behaviour prof worked very closely with bears for years - he was convinced that bear spray wouldn't stop a charging grizzly, but that it's real value was that it would give you enough confidence to not act nervous around them, which often causes them to get antsy.  He stoped carrying it years ago, and his students would carry it long enough to feel comfortable and then often not bother after a while.  The only bear incident he ever had was getting charged when he was with a student who couldn't relax around the bears.

I'd carry it, strapped to my bike, if I were riding in bear country.  I also holler "No Bear" or something similar regularly, when hiking or riding in bear country to avoid sneaking up on them, which is pretty easy to do on a bike or if they're all doped up on berries.

good advice, thanks

Unicycles are ok, but not Ebikes.

Re: ebikes on the Shore

If you look on Trailforks, for any the trails at Thorhill -Maple Ridge you will notice that is says, "Ebikes Allowed: no". If you look at 7th Secret at Fromme, there isn't even a spot that says Ebikes:, allowed or not.

This would indicate to me that ebikes are not prohibited from riding Fromme, Is this correct?

11 billion is the middle projection by 2100 and something tells me shit's gonna hit the fan before that comes to pass. The low projection is that it will have dropped back to where it is today by 2100, but I am not sure how they get the numbers.

It’s you people having children that are ruining it all. That why I’m kinda glad that I was lucky enough to be born ugly so that no woman would have me and I can live with a clear conscience about not contributing to the demise of the human race.

True, but you become way better looking with a chainsaw in your hands...;)

Cruise ships seem like a huge fucking waste.

They either run off Bunker C or Heavy Crude. All the supplies needed for a voyage. All the shitty cunts flying into and out of the departure and arrival ports.

Then start to think about where most of our consumer goods come from and how they get here. When you start to expand your thinking about what's impacting climate change suddenly the outcome becomes very grim. Our lifestyles need to completely change.

Climate change will allow for quicker shipping routes.

There's no snow and the strava fucks have trashed the place.

The ones who trash the place are the riders who skid, slid and try to roost the berms.

Ride, don't slide!

syncro, i always appreciate your level headed view points, but riding up an obvious downhill trail is just plain wrong for anybody. perhaps downhill trails could be better marked in heavily used regions.

Thanks FLATCH, but I disagree with you here as it's not a black and white issue. I agree with you that there are circumstances and trails where it shouldn't be done, but you can't make a blanket statement that any trail used for going downhill should never be ridden uphill. I appreciate you used a qualifier and said "obvious" downhill trail, but what that means to you and what it means to someone else may be two very different things.

Where the convo gets really dicey is when ebikes are added to the mix. What was once unrideable in an uphill direction is now accessible with the addition of the juice. So yeah in that respect there are situations where it becomes downright dangerous to both riders for someone to ride up a primarily downhill trail. That's part of why we need a set of rules on riding etiquette for all trail users.

Well said, a few " Downhill only, riding uphill is prohibited" at the bottom or " This trail is used in both directions, downhill has right of way" at the top would work wonders, if enforced.

Why would we assume that no  e bikers would do any maintenance. I’m sure there would be a number who would or already do. I’m certain all acoustic riders do their share of maintenance , right?

And why is it assumed that most e bikers will be nubes. Again, poor argument.

Again? He didn't say they didn't do any maintenance, he was implying that there do their fair share but should do 6x what they would normally do.
