Re: COVID-19

Get well Flatch. I had an ablation done last year to fix a supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) issue. Not as serious as your issue but modern medical procedures are amazing and I'm sure you'll be back at it soon.

Re: How low is the snow?

I believe so, was at the power line junction this afternoon and went down Severed. There was a touch of snow on the side of the power line but very minimal so I think Dales would be good to go.

Fromme is a different story though. Snow on 3rd & 5th switchbacks. Snow covered on top 25-30% ish of Expresso.

Re: 2020 Fromme trail conditions

A lot of people use the Dempsey connector to traverse from lower westside Fromme trails back to Fromme parking lot, Mtn Hwy parking or if they live in Upper Lynn Valley.

There are alternatives like taking Dempsey Rd from Braemar zone or climbing back up to Baden Powell and traversing across. Neither of these options are great imo.

Re: 2020 Fromme trail conditions

That's a bummer but inevitable I guess. That was my go to exit from that side of Fromme. The Mill St exit is pretty rough and I have a feeling people living near that exit might not be too happy about the increased traffic.

Re: North Shore Trail Riding Etiquette and Behavior in a Global Pandemic

Fair enough....would still be great to get some new trails built or old trails rebuilt on the Shore but there just seems to be too much red tape or lack of money.

Re: North Shore Trail Riding Etiquette and Behavior in a Global Pandemic

Might be stating the obvious but seems to me that the increase in unsanctioned loamers is a direct result of the lack of new trails on Fromme and Seymour. As a comparison Squamish had 5 new sanctioned trails last year. Did the Shore have any?

It does say "area" on a few of these places so perhaps they will extend it to adjacent streets.

Braemar/Dempsey area

Mountain Highway/Coleman Street area

Anne MacDonald Way/Old Buck area

Re: Home insurance companies that have the best coverage for bikes?

My house insurance was up for renewal and I compared my current provider (Westland) with TD and BCAA and found BCAA to be the cheapest even after scheduling my bikes for their full replacement value.

Re: ebikes on the Shore

I don't own an ebike but I did demo one. I rode from LVB up to 7th, down to the bottom of Lower Expresso back up climbing trail to Executioner and back down to LVB in 1:45. By the time I made it back the battery was dead. I'm relatively fit and if I did that same loop on my normal bike it would take almost twice the time and my legs would have been pretty tired. I was not tired at all after the eride....could have done another lap if it wasn't for the dead battery.

It was definitely fun but I'm in no rush to go buy one.
