Gear Shots - some of Pete's BCBR gear picks - Sept. 16, 2021, 6:58 a.m.

Danish ministry of traffic years ago made a tv-spot encouraging drivers to give other drivers the OK sign when "being good in traffic". After running the campaign for quite a while, they discovered, that the same gesture in southern Europe predominantly means asshole.

It still means OK in diving, as 'thumbs up' means go to the surface.

Pistons & Pivots - Brad Lever's Mountain Goat Fuso 4X4 - Aug. 10, 2021, 7:48 a.m.

But this is the kind of vehicle we’re all going to need, when all the roads are flushed away by extreme weather.

Less Plastic, More Impressed - May 26, 2021, 8:17 a.m.

I wonder what Ride Wrap is made of? It would be kind of ironic, if the commercial leading up to the video is for a product made of plastic.

Waist straps that are too long, are more of a pain though. They catch on everything and either rip loose or fastens to your jersey.

How much do you reckon your brain is worth? I ask my wife this, when I have to justify spending big on (another) helmet.

You're wrong. Can't believe nobody told you that; and it's been more than a year.

The NSMB Podcast: Ep 8 – Kyle Warner - April 15, 2021, 8:52 a.m.

I was already a subscriber to Kyle and Aprils channel, but after listening to this I want to subscribe ten times. A world full of Kyles would be a much better place.

2021 Kona Honzo ESD - Full Review - March 5, 2021, 9:44 a.m.

I think you owe us a review of that Primer with 29” wheels, if I’m correct?

Deore M6100: (Almost) The Only Drivetrain That Matters - Feb. 18, 2021, 12:31 a.m.

Sorry I was wrong. I used to have a Zee derailleur on my full sus, but now it's a SLX medium cage. I've been almost exclusively riding my hardtail the last six months, so I forgot that I switched to SLX on the full sus (I guess more than a year ago). As I recall, I did this because even with a longer B-screw, I wasn't able to get the Zee running perfectly. I'm no mechanic though, so someone with better skills might be able to.

I guess it's no longer of the same interrest (now it's SLX and not Zee), but I'll take some pictures for you Andrew, if you want me to.

Deore M6100: (Almost) The Only Drivetrain That Matters - Feb. 16, 2021, 10:55 p.m.

I have this setup (XTR 10sp shifter, SLX medium cage (not ZEE after all, sorry) with Goatlink and SunRace 11-46) on a fullsuspension, but while it will run all gears perfectly I find that I have to “push through”/hold the shifter for longer to shift into the lower gears. If it’s your only bike you get used to it, but switching between bikes it gets annoying.

Deore M6100: (Almost) The Only Drivetrain That Matters - Feb. 16, 2021, 5:22 a.m.

I've been going the AJ-way since I build my first 1x10 speed bike 10 years ago (even before N/W chainrings): XTR shifters with whatever derailleur was available/on sale. The reason for XTR shifters, is that the old 10sp XT shifters had a plastic lever. My current setup is a SLX RD-M7000-11 GS Shadow+ middle Cage paired with the ten years old XTR 10sp shifter and a 10sp 11x46 Sunrace cassette. Although there's a 0.2 difference in ratio between an 11sp and a 10sp, it shifts so good, that I can't tell the difference from a 10sp/10sp setup.

I use chainring spacers to achieve the same. It has the added bonus of making more space for the chain to sink in between the teeth without hitting the (Shimano 104bcd) spider arms.

Specialized's 2FO Roost Flat Shoes Reviewed - Feb. 13, 2021, 12:10 a.m.

I tried the 2FO Roost in the LBS, and found them a little small. I’m a euro 43 in most shoes (incl. Five Ten), and happily orders from the internet because of this. Looking at size charts from Specialized and Five Ten, Spec’s 43 is a US 9.6 whereas Five Ten is US 10, so this might explain, why I find the 2FO a little short. The guy in the shop, who rides in the 2FO himself said, that he too had found them short at first, but after a few rides he felt t was like the heel had sunk in and the shoes were perfect. Could have just been a sales trick though. Apart from this the 2FO’s are easily the most comfortable shoes I’ve tried.

Should You? Tire Insert Pros and Cons - Feb. 3, 2021, 5:12 a.m.

After denting my Hunt Trail Wide rim four times in the first two months, I got hold of a TT-insert for the rearwheel of my hardtail. I went from 22-25psi without insert to 15-20psi (Maxxis Dissector EXO) and have had zero dents (I weigh 62kg). I can run as low as 8psi, but below that all air escapes, and rim and inserts slips inside the tire making it impossible to reinflate the tire without pulling it off and aligning the valvehole in the insert first. Install is like fitting the tire twice.

SRAM AXS: a year of wireless shifting - Nov. 10, 2020, 3:13 a.m.

This is why you should never leave an AXS bike out of sight. If someone decides they need that dropper more than you, all it takes is undoing two bolts.
