I got a warning a couple weeks ago. Had my Yakima Holdup folded up blocking my plate. First time in 11 years.

Didn't see it anywhere but what are the weights of the two bikes?

I ran into the same problem in Surrey, only got a warning. Had the Yakima Hold-Up on. Recently changed to the Saris Superclamp EX2. 

I've found the best way is to do it with the bike upside down, resting on the bars & saddle. Yes, the washers fall out occasionally but overall it's way better than giving up my beloved CK hubs. You can put a dab of grease on the washers to keep them somewhat in place. MRP makes a conversion kit for the front hub but so far the distributor doesn't have any in stock yet. I'm running a standard Pike 15 x 100  but i'm looking at the new Manitou Mezzer. We'll see.

I'm using 2 x homemade 3mm washers with 3 x 1mm rotor spacers on my Chris King hubs. Running  26t on the front of my Fuel EX 8 and it works just fine. No issues at all

I really like the Bontrager SE5, handles great, lots of traction and less expensive than the Maxxis.

I'm usually off mondays, wouldn't mind the occasional shuttle. Have a dog though if it makes any difference.

I've got a 2013  Prime with a Pike @ 150mm, Fox Transfer post, SixC bars and cranks, CK hubs w Spank rims with 2.35 Minions EXO's. Weighs in at 32.5lbs. I ride it everywhere you describe and it's been a fantastic bike. I've rebuilt the rear end once, last year. I haven't found anything yet that's significantly better. I pedals well, descends like a champ plus I have three sets of wheels to change it's personality depending where I'm riding. One set of 29"  lighter XCish wheels w light fast tires, a set of hd wheels as described above and a set of 27.5+ wheels just for shits and giggles.

Banshee Prime - 135mm travel, multiple replaceable rear dropouts w adj. geometry. I believe on the new ones you can get 148 or 142 dropouts. I've got a 2013 model w 130mm rear and I run a 150mm Pike on the front.  Awesome bike, haven't found anything I like better yet.
