Re: Who needs a budget?

Posted by: switch

Under Harper, Canada had a record deficit of $56 billion ($61 billion adjusted for inflation) in 2010 when the recession (he didn't see) was over and the price of oil was $120 a barrel.

If the barrel would have been at $40-$50 dollars, like today, the deficit would have been over $85 billion!

This deficit of $29.5 billion, if you take into account a $50 barrel of oil, amounts to $22 billion in lost revenue and the deficit would be $7.5 billion.

Can anybody really pretend that the NDP or Conservatives would have had done better?

You know, Harper bashing never gets old - so you hold onto that as long as you need, like a SJW blanket. Let's talk here and now. Try. I can live with a $29 billion deficit - even though that was an election lie in a massive scale - but point to all of us non Harper bashers where in this budget that $29 billion is creating jobs and economy to you know, eventually pay off this deficit. Simply pulling the Liberal card of spending what you aren't making and adding more taxes does not equal future prosperity. Explain it, I'm all ears.

Who needs a budget?

Deficit time again today.  Spend it like it's not your money.  I like how there is now a Housing Registry going to be in place....any bets on capital gains when you sell your house next budget and the collapse of our false economy based on inflated real estate?

No more Canada Savings Bonds, 18 months maternity, some so-so spending in the middle, and the middle finger once again to veterans that offer our freedoms.  Could have been worse, but this one is lacking on many levels where it is needed most and to those it was promised - the middle class.

That's going to be a fine rifle. Make sure it isn't one of the ones requiring the trigger recall.

Donald Trump... Narcissist in Chief!

Unless those guys are quants from Renaissance, chances are they can't predict what toothpaste they're going to use tomorrow.

Let's just agree all media should be relegated to the entertainment and confirmation bias bucket.

And lending their ears to the PMO and whoever else will give them a full-time job. 9 former journalists to have joined either the PMO or other Liberal cabinet Ministers offices in the last 6 months:

Michael Den Tandt - PMO
Mark Kennedy - Comms Director - Treasury Board
Bruce Cheadle - Comms Director - Government House Leader
James Cudmore - Office of the Minister of Defence
Patricia Bell (CBC) - Press Secretary/Legislative assistant, Fisheries
James Fitz-Morris - Comms Director - Minister of Indigenous Affairs
David Taylor
Steve Rennie
Dan Gardiner

but….Trump. He's the narcissist with all the problems

Donald Trump... Narcissist in Chief!

What point? You attack our views all the time, but you don't make many points that I can see. You obviously don't appreciate my views, but at least you know what they are. I have no idea what your thoughts are of Trump's presidency, which is quite a feat considering you have posted in this thread several times.

I think most of us on here are close to centre and pragmatic when it comes to politics, not the wacko leftist crazies you might think we are.

You'd be incorrect in thinking that I don't appreciate your views; on the contrary, your views are one of the few I look forward to seeing. They are often witty with a touch of humour - you know, social media. But your response once again furthers my original point that you went off about - so I'll leave you to ponder why before putting words in someone's mouth again.

I wasn't even on this board for 6 months and this thread is 119 pages of NBR's finest going off about how someone else is, in their opinions, a narcissist. I'm late to the game, just smiling and watching the never ending finger pointing.

Donald Trump... Narcissist in Chief!

 This is almost something I would expect the Donald himself to say if he was in NBR. Sweet channeling of Agent Orange Zed.

It starts with the classic delivery of a vague insulting statement which is impossible to claim as fact or fiction (We all live to hate? Hate who? Hate what? What happened in Sweden? What are we talking about?). Then you proceed to make another bolder, more important claim that is linked to the previous unprovable vague statement,(this is "the root of the social issue".. hmm, sounds deep, I guess it must be true… I would argue, but I still haven't figured out who I hate or what "the social issue" is). Then a pivot, which I suppose is intended to tie up in a neat bow our propensity for hate which is the root of the social issue, with who we voted for in the last election. Holy shit, it's been all my fault all along?

It may come as a surprise to you but I don't hate anyone, I just call em as I see em, and I have been calling Trump a moron with zero ability to lead, but with a knack for manipulation (read "Con Man") for quite some time and this is playing out in real time.

So shit or get off the pot Zed. What do you think of statements that Trump makes that are obvious lies? You can say we live to hate, but you don't seem to have the balls to voice your opinion on Trump's abilities as a leader.

I don't want to share my opinions with the likes of NBR right now, sorry. Your words illustrate my point to a 'T'. So, you just shit in your own pot. Again.

People here just live to hate - there's the root of the social issue. I bet most voted for JT as well - the budget balancing by itself yet? lol.

Canada.

Refreshing to hear a politician that actually had a proper job at one time. Too many are career politicians and never held a real job in their life.

Ironic - our PM never had a real job and is now a career politician. :rave:

Its so much more complicated than that.

School is business -[HTML_REMOVED] business' sell -[HTML_REMOVED] schools sell courses -[HTML_REMOVED] rapid tech changes require additional schooling -[HTML_REMOVED] schools focus on profits over pertinent education -[HTML_REMOVED] higher school costs -[HTML_REMOVED] student loans -[HTML_REMOVED] limited job market opportunities -[HTML_REMOVED] stagnant wage growth -[HTML_REMOVED] defaults on loans.

How do you change one part of that cycle without blowing up the whole system or driving it down to ideologies of lib/con, black/white?

When did pillars of our civilization become profit driven? And why have we been so complicit in this?

Work harder, or work two jobs, take care of your own responsibilities in lieu of throwing stones and blaming 'poor job market'. Starbucks is not below anyone, it is opportunity. The educated should not simply rely on others to the tune of $180 million per year.

Why is this true?

We need a giant reset in the West. Education is failing us tremendously.

People need to learn how to be person/human. Critical thinking, etc.

Educated people are failing us tremendously. No critical thinking, no learning to person by taking responsibility.

The SJWs don't have anyone left to chase away so they just high five one another now. That's progress and the only right way to do things; everything else is neocon bs nowadays.
