The duriod actually seems to slow the rotting of the tree which it's attached to.
Makes you feel a little better as you use your body to check this log ride out.
This whole section after years of use has been redone.

The new redo has a new sweet cedar ladder entrance bridge and logride as well as a little opening of the squeeze to reflect the wider bars noadays.
