I would imagine Howler would be awesome with some moisture. Rode it a couple times this summer. So fast and furious but was getting a wee bit loose by late August. Must hit before snow gets that low.
Whistler 2014 Trail Conditions - not in the bike park
yeah we hit up screaming cat/north flank/howler via cougar sunday and it was really good, lots of big baby heads in corners on howler though to look out for!
There seems to be lots more loose rocks all over the valley this year. Golden Boner, Billy, Howler all of them and they scare the hell out of me. Maybe the lack of rain pushed them out?

definitely the case, I've been clearing out lots from SCAP/HS regularly this season, nature of the beast!
The Mrs. did a solo blast from Creekside on Sunday before the rains. Headed up the microwave road, up Lower Babylon, down SCAP, down Highside, up Highline, IBT, to AM/PM.
Her first time doing that full link-up and first time on Highside. She had more than a few praises to sing about that loop and especially the Highside link-up. Well done.
I was up on Kush to Big Timber with the kids and then they did 3 additional timed laps of Big Timber.

:) awesome! it's a pretty decent wet weather loop too….I'm hoping to get into HiHi this week too and start fixing up a few of the narrow bench sections that are getting a bit beat up now that it's getting regular traffic.
Lost lake was god damn horrible last night. Not sure when we got all that rain but there were some deep deep puddles. Couple that with some trail work gone wrong (think big deep goo ruts) and you have probably the least enjoyable ride i have had this year.
so any suggestions for trail choices this weekend? I know lots of rain . but we have a family weekend and the wife has given me time to ride.
Have my everything bike (chilcotin) had the chance to ride micro climate early this year and the loop out through CN. looking for some fun on what are accepted as wet weather trails.
Been riding in the rain for the last week on fromme after work .
I would go billy epic or howler. Both deal with water very well. Microclimate and most of the other loamers will be soggy and not really overly enjoyable to ride. If you have to ride loam, hey bud or crazy train would be my suggestions.
Also Tunnel Vision [HTML_REMOVED] big timber generally hold up pretty well - but there's a reason why most whistler riders head to pemberton at this time of the year…
A decent ride in the wet would be Trainwreck, Lower Yer Saddle, Trainwreck loop to Runaway Train or End of the Line (if it's wet ride End of the Line), Sea to Sky Trail, Trash, up Farside, Highline, then ride the FSR to Tunnel Vision.
Should be a good 3 hourish loop out in Function.

What's happening with that old bridge? I read somewhere that it was closed or even gone. I did see survey evidence on Trash for the bridge that is supposed to cross the river but I think that will be a while.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

I think they were just telling people it's gone to try and keep them off it, from what I've seen and heard, however, it's still there. more a cross at your own risk thing I guess….I'd imagine it will be replaced however since if not that makes the sea to sky trail down there useless, and I can't imagine they'll abandon that
Could be. In winter it has keep off signs I think to keep snowmobiles from busting through the rotted old stringers. Cross it as fast as you and not with fat guy nearby.

It's still there and was closed most of the summer, but you could still walk around it (it seems perfectly fine). I rode that loop 2 weeks ago and the bridge was open and rode right through it. That was on a Sunday and they were doing work in that area, so they are doing something with it.
Appreciate the input guys . I dont want to ride loamers in the wet. I stay off them around here during the wet wet times as it is.
riding on saturday . 2-3 hour lap is what i can squeeze. staying in marketplace and can travel. thought about pemby , but kills 30 mins on each end of my limited timeline
thanks
to be fair, and generally speaking, most whistler trails stand up pretty good to wet weather riding, but it's never a bad idea to ride smart and limit ones impact. Emerald trails are rocky and well draining, as mentioned howler and billy are also great choices in the wet too. Lost lake is typically good for mellower more xc style, although they've been doing some work that involved saturated dirt/clay so I hear there are unfortunately some really mucky sections. South end is also a good choice as mentioned…SCAP, high side, farside, trash, Business time, AMPM, TV, Big Timber all are good wet weather choices too.
