GARBO WHEN?

How's the park holding up with all the snow / wet weather?

Looking to go up soon by I really don't think I will until the rest of the mtn is open.

Still 148cm of snow at Pig Alley (basically top of Garbo elevation). That is down from 180cm on June 16, so melt is happening and there's some hot sunny days coming. Lack of warm spring/summer rain really slowed down the melt this year. Gotta think Garbo is at least several weeks away still unless they dig out a couple trails? Even then it will be sooo muddy.

Blue velvet, bear cub, una moss, little alder, blueberry bathtub and too tight. That’s the only lap open. Surprisingly in half decent shape with only a couple of muddy spots where fresh dirt had been laid

Yeah it must be mud central on the rest of the mountain, I saw shots of Fitz zone the other day that still had snow!

Might have been an old photo? The only place with snow i've seen is off of ski runs where the groomers + snowmaking + north facing combo is in affect. And even there i have a feeling that would be gone now.

Looks like I was way off hahah. Although curious to see how No Joke, O-sin, In Deep, Fatcrobat etc. all fair when they melt out. I remember those trails being so wet and muddy until a sustained heatwave would dry them out...

It' running great right know but most garbo trails are still closed. I would say they need a bit more time to clear the trails.

How have the lineups been this year?

Its been kinda weird and pretty brutal. I got in line at 9:40 on Saturday and bailed because the line was out to the dubhlinn by 11:30. That was 2 laps. Saturday and Sunday afternoons were stroll onto the lifts. Monday morning in line by 10:15. Again bailed at around 12 after getting 2 laps. Constant chair stops certainly werent helping and they are sometimes allowing only 3 bikes early in the morning so singles line is pretty much worthless.

Glad i got a bunch of laps in early season...

Did they actually increase the village gondola capacity for bikes as promised?

Too many remote workers living in Whistler now messing with the old reliable down times in the lines  😛

Depends on the liftie working. Seems like a few will let bikes into the non bike ones if the line gets bigger, others will not

Looks like part (top part?) of the 1199 DH track will be used for EWS Whistler, looks sick:

You can see the course map here, I assume 1199 (when complete? Not sure if the whole thing is done or just the section for EWS) would run from top to bottom Creekside gondola, looks like EWS is just use the top section into Duffman:
