How many serious injuries a year does WBP notch up? Not broken limbs, but airlift to Squamish ICU serious?
I’m wondering if this will be another factor in whether WBP opens this year.

I think it’s more about the public gathering, social distancing. Pretty hard to do around a bike park.
Can you imagine how long the mid summer lineup would be if everyone was 6 feet apart lol.
You could get in line from downtown Vancouver.

The parking lot would be like a tailgater for a college game.

For sure, but that's why I said 'another'. Is there any hard data on WBP injuries and hospital bed usage for each year?
I don't think the severity of the injury needs to be taken into account at all. Simply having people show up because their arm is bending in a weird way is as bad as someone with a branch in their neck during these times.
Any idea how many from last season at WBP needed evac to Squamish general? Thinking about it from a bed/staff usage/ventilator perspective.
I’ve heard it said that about one in seven riders need to visit the clinic from a park injury. Everything from scuffs that need cleaning to serious injuries that need evac. Sounds too high to me. In the summer the helicopter traffic is pretty high. Some of those trips are medical. I see the red and white choppers.
Maybe WBP is going to open in June given the new news?
If 6 people groups can use BC Parks soon, 4 person chairlifts can't be far behind?
Lots of rumors swirling about.
The one I'm hoping will pan out is that only the bike park will be going this summer and that it's a late June, early July start. (I will not bet any money on that one however).
I'm just going to push up the road and ride one lap per day. EZ

They're doing zero tolerance right now FYI. Word around the valley is loss of 1 year of "potential" bike park use.
I'm only kidding, but I'm glad they're enforcing it. Would hate for something to happen!
Is it wrong to hope that us locals will get the park all to ourselves late this summer?
Not at all, in fact my circle of friends were all saying the same.
I might not have a park bike this summer so it doesn't matter to me either way lol.
I don't really feel like riding my hard tail in the park to be honest.
