$80 a day? F that crap.

It’s a good way to get rid of the bag lunch crowd

Isnt pretty much everyone coming to the park at the beginning going to be the 'bag lunch crowd'?  No international tourists, heck even out of Province visitors are unlikely. Its going to be mostly day trippers or nearby residents for the first little while Id imagine.

Going to be so many ‘Mericans at the BC border with a vehicle full of bikes declaring they’re “Heading to Alaska” that weekend.

Hah, hopefully border services are wise to that now. I'm sure Whistler will release more details before the 29th, but I think that first week is going to be painful if they don't limit day ticket sales (even at $80). First few days you gotta think staff are still working out the kinks, won't really know how bad lines are with how they limit singles/groups until it happens, Canada day holiday, pent up demand, anyone local/lower mainland who buys a pass is gonna be there etc. etc.

I saw some pictures of patrol doing lift training and it looked like a ton of snow still around roundhouse/top of Garbo cuz of the cool weather lately.

Wonder when more info is going to be released re: trails, season pass pricing etc. Seem to be cutting it close. Nickel I know comms/PR ain't your bag... guessing they will put out some info by the weekend.

There's a lot still up in the air about that. I honestly couldn't tell you the answer to that.

Big ticket increase :(   If the rumour is true that there is limited black trails opening, this will be the first year since 2006 I won't have a season's pass.

Yup. Fuck Vail. That’s ridiculous. Plus the fact they cancelled kids DFX summer camps with 10 days notice, leaving everyone scrambling last minute.

Typical Vail, no shits given about all the locals that could have helped them survive this summer.

Nickel posted on that other forum that black and double black tech is opening (subject to trail work/conditions, snow etc) but black+ flow is not to start. Cheers as always for the info...

I’ll bite the bullet on an Evolution V10 rental and ride Tuesday I think. Likely my only park day this year unless Peak opens for my annual TOTW/Khyber.

Major bummer about DFX, wonder if it was feasible to run them with COVID-19 restrictions. I did see WORCA/Zep advertising some camps? But either way short notice blows.

Us passholder's get to ride free.  Fuck yeah.

nickel, question.. has the GLC/A-Line jump moved more cross-hill?  The sweeping berms after it might also be making my eyes cross a bit...

Somewhat, yes. No slopestyle means we had room to adjust the alignment. We also added corners above the jump which should eliminate the need to brake into the last jump. The alignment over the ezdi overpass changed too.

I rode from open til close. Lines were 20-30 minutes all day on the Fitz. Garbo was no line. Trails that were open were in good shape. Once you got up the mountain it seemed very quiet. The lines move slowly since there is no singles line and you can only ride the chair with the people you came with.
