Stopping the finger cramp?

I find constant small adjustments in the way I grip the bar to really help. The only time I truly get the claw is if I am on the hardtail (also with a Lyrik Air) in the park. Even then it comes on late in the day, usually.

More forearm strength is the last thing you need kids.

it's true, they feel terrible. but i've found they let me run long descents on the dh bike without hand issue.
and on another note, probably the biggest thing people could do would be ride more hard cross country.
fitter = stronger = less fatigue = better body position = less braking = better hands

I think probably because it almost forces you to use less grip force….or something like that!

totally agree with the xc comment too.

Adjust the brake lever closer to the bars. This was the fix for my short fingers… no problem since then (years ago!)

I find the first day in the park is hard on my hands..as I get days in it gets better. Usually it's only the first day that I notice it. I've been doing pretty big shuttle days this year so I curious how it will be when I hit the park.

Pick up a hammer or wrench some time and quit being a Nancy about it. The above suggestions work well to help but bottom line, you have weak hands, wrists, and forearms.

For the barbell holds was thinking more along the lines of Alpine skiers wall sits. Not much for strength more for building tolerences to lactic acid build up and fatigue.

Lever adjustments correct grip size. Rotation of the bars in the stem. If it burns it is not in your egro spot. Once that all fails fix your fork.

Ya what they all said. :)

I have something like this

I used to use these when I was stuck in traffic during commuting

IME with kayak paddles if you got small hands you want small grips because a fat grip you must hold on to at all times while a skinny grip just lays in your hand ,it was from using a kayak paddle that was too FAT I had tennis elbow in both arms BUT …no problems since switching to a smaller shaft paddle
