i don't facebook or blog, so here's my story to the world of strangers, ha ha.
i'm a pretty good intermediate rider on all kinds of technical trails. so i'm a bit disappointed in my performance at WBP. the speeds and terrain intense and i just couldn't quite adjust to it to feel like i was really 'ripping'. even the blues the berm speeds are impressive. the Aurum was a good bike, felt a bit small, but i think it's mostly me. a DH bike is just a different animal, so low and soooo slack. i don't think i was riding that thing fast enough, it needs speed to handle well.
about half way through the day i started feeling better and going harder, but still not comfortable with much air. my hands were starting to pack it at this point. you must need gorilla hand strength to ride here often!
i liked the black diamond tech trails best and some were intimidating. no double blacks for me. the top of the world was open and just incredible. worth the one time ride.
saw some crazy shit:
guy on a wheelchair DH rig. guy ripped, incredible.
every kind of bike out there. rigid fat bike- i just don't get it.
hard tails. trail bikes. trail bike 29ers.
guys in spandex (and NOT hipster DH guys)
dad with his son, dad riding his vintage purple commuter bike with 700cc semi slicks. so weird.
WBP is a helluva experience. a scene. a trip. and bloody humbling….
