first step to make the right decision after being wrong in the first place, Moab edition:

https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/moab-utah-usa-local-blm-requests-comments-about-a-proposal-for-allowing-e-bike-use.40190/

We’re not talking about Moab. Go read what Flipfantasia wrote. He was involved with the project. No one is picking on e-bikes but I was questioning why he was riding with his partner who apparently had an exemption to ebike up there. I can’t find anything on the RMOW website about exemptions to ride an ebike if you have a medical reason. Type 1 Ebikes are allowed everywhere else in Whistler except a small bit in the Emerald Forest and the Sproat alpine area where the subject trail is.

Fact remains that e-bikes are not allowed up there, exemptions not withstanding, and buddy didn’t have an exemption. Maybe she did. He had something on his phone that he showed to the Ranger. No mention why he was so special.

i totally get that, still its an area that claims due to environmental issues you cant ride your ebike up there, yet, on another mountain its totally cool to build a trail that you can only access via helicopter. oh the irony

let's get back to this topic when you guys have the same ebike sale numbers as we do now in europe. people will demand the access at one point, like this dude in the video. mark my words

Re-introduced bears don't tend to fare well in the Alps, they end up getting shot and stuffed in a museum, or captured and put in an enclosure:

On the other hand, in Switzerland you can ride up to the alpine on your e-mtb to see a sign of a bear and charge your battery at the refugio at the top while you drink your beer before you descend back down ;-)

tell that to the people in italy who already got attacked by bears? there is even a new german word for it: Problembär (problem bear, they usually get shot)

Wild animals are wild, who knew? This is why we choose to limit trails and access to certain wild animal habitat. Kinda a circular argument with you here.

Interesting…. German rider living in Germany attempting via internet to impose German and European trail/land access rules and views on a non European country.

As the English would say Brilliant.

Context of your statement in the bigger picture meaning what exactly?

This does not have anything to do with what the original discussion is about - point being, why can you not accept the fact that your original reply was a little misplaced?

the one who used to impose freedum on other nations shouldn't be the one lashing out...

the context? i spend a season in whistler once and would like to come back for a longer holiday, with the kenevo sl this time. as you can remove the main battery and travel with 2 160wh batteries which the bike can be operated with even if there is no main battery present (making it one of the few air travel compatible ebikes out there). and then i would like to ride that trail. yet, there are restrictions in place. which would me prevent me from riding it. hence my opposition to this rule. enough context?

You'd nix a Whistler vacation based on not being able to ride that one trail?

Well since he derailed the thread further .... to be transparent. And since he decided to go that route. US Soldier? Nope. I am a veteran of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada., The Canadian Army to be exact. Tulloch Ard.

And he can ride it, just not with an ebike. Plus one can ride everywhere else in Whistler on a type 1 ebike.

I would also argue that for someone who lives in Switzerland and is literally surrounded by hundreds of easily accessible alpine trails, the LOTS loop isn't going to be all that special (apart from possible bear encounters maybe).

For us here it opened up a type of riding (alpine XC) that had been severely lacking in our area. I love that it's there now. But I've done tons of alpine rides in Switzerland and Italy that are 10x better.

IMHO come to Whistler / S2S to experience steep-gnar-in-dark-forests, giant slabs, world class creative trail building etc. Do the LOTS loop while here to add some different flavour but don't hang up your trip on it.

Build out a well spec'd bike from discount/closeout stuff, ignore the product hype and just to ride the thousands of km of amazing trail around BC while camping out of old dirtbag truck.

It's only expensive if you buy into the hype and need a bling bike and a Sprinter van.

There are dirtbags out there riding non stop and laughing at the "it's too expensive" comments.
