Garbonzo zone closed for the season?

Apparently yesterday was the last day to access the Garbo zone either via the chair OR the gondola? Every whistler employee I've talked to said that it is closed; but doesn't it usually stay open to the end, at least through gondola access? :(

According to the website Garbo area is open, just accessed via the gondola.

I read that too but called due to what I was hearing yesterday and they confirmed that there is no longer any access to the Garbo zone. Now I'm hoping someone can tell me they're riding it right now or seeing people load up for the top, but I'm just clinging to false hope it seems.

It would be odd to close it. Yesterday, te conditions up there were absolutely perfect.

I'm guessing they'll be closing the Garbo chair down for the rest of the season, but you'd still be able to access the garbo zone via the gondy - as per the usual "end of season" protocol.

They're probably starting to pull the bike racks off the chairs on Garbo.

i've been told by both of my patrol bosses that garbo is accessed via the gondy until thanksgiving weekend. that or unless the weather turns bad and they close it down (ie snow).

some patrollers told us yesterday that it was closed, but if it didn't snow this week it may be open next weekend…..

It seems that Garbo is open through the gondola until closing date.

…Exactly, calling general info at whistler I'm hearing garbo is no longer accessible at all, but then I hear so many people saying it must be the gondola on weekends or all week until the end. Did anyone take the gondola up top today? That would clear things up.

If you try carefully to decipher the park info on the Whistler site it seems that Garbo access is available until Oct 12th via the Gondola but the Gondola is now only open on weekends.

Yep - open on weekends. I'm in Colorado and even I know that.
