shit yeah. not saying that ill be hitting them straight away but at least ive got something to work up to this season. excited. scared. stoked. 2 weeks.

Crabapple Just Got Bigger!
Apparently the jump pictured measures 50 feet from the tip of the take off to the top of the tranny. Imagine how much dirt they would save if they didn't make it a table top .
I don't want to sound like a pussy,but I draw the line at 49.5 feet:fruit:
I hope the heli-pad is ready…
this really makes me miss working patrol.
Yes! Nice to have something in the park that scares you. There's 200 other jumps to warm up on, so I think it's awesome that they are pushing it and keeping them double black as things progress. I'm guessing this could be the one that was a little too easy to overshoot, hence this could actually be a little safer and more in line with trail speed.
I agree, and kinda think that's why the landings should be a bit lower and rounder…
If the landings were lower, you would be falling further and traveling faster by the time you touch down so I think that would be less safe. Rounder would probably be safer though.
whats next ?,launch on crabapple land in the village ??
those are some rather massive tables for joe public.
kudos to those that can launch that big .. not something i'll ever be attempting.
ive often wondered why when the WPB builds new lines they almost never have features that have a variey of sizes..
similar to have the jump/drop park by lower crank it up works..
why must almost every feature in the park be a make it or fail move? why not build a launch/drop with a couple of different sizes going left/right so riders of various skillsets can make some progression instead of either doing teh stunt or riding around..
curious on this !!!
can't wait to see the cworks pro monster whip action over that…
They should set up a conveyor belt from the bottom of that to the clinic.

faster isn't the problem, it's the big harsh knuckle that's the problem
Woohoo! I was loving those hits last year, my favorite hits on the mountain (only exception being the tombstone on Aline).
Can't wait to give these ones a run, and lucky for me KRAM will hit these enough times before I go that all I have to do is show up and follow him, thanks buddy!

My guess is that you wouldn't too large of a range of abilities on the same trail. If you have small jumps next to big jumps on trails you now have intermediate riders mixing with experts, difference in speeds and you have problems. If you have only one size of hit, then you have a more consistent trail speed and the riders abilities will be closer.

What this man said. The speed and commitment required to hitting even last years CrabApple Hits results in fairly blind landings. It's great having trails like CrabApple, Dwayne Johnstone and the Canadian Open that have large mandatory jumps on them as it allows fast riders to flow large moves without fear of landing on someone. Mixing ability levels and speeds on features that size is a recipe for disaster. There is a great progression of jump size and style in the bike park at the moment that allows riders to progress to the higher commitment trails / features.
Back to the OP, that jump looks massive! I can't wait to check it out. Kudos to WBP for having the balls to build features like this. I thoroughly enjoy riding your work.
Biking: As addictive as cocaine, twice as expensive!

Well said by both.
The first time I hit them after the rebuild last year, I came off the 4th one and almost landed on a guy who was unconcious on the downramp. That was pretty unnerving to say the least. Whether he was skilled enough to be there and just go unlucky, I don't know, but the last thing these jumps need is less experienced riders getting too close when they should probably stay away.
I'm definitely scared (I think you'd have to have a nut loose to not be intimidated the first time), but I am confident they will be built as well as the rest of the big lines made recently which means you just get the speed right and it's butter. So Danny, you can follow me in, but I just need to wait til my mate Cam has a go so I can follow him in first. :)
I am quite certain that I will never hit Crabapple again, but Krams comments are so true.

I have never gone as big or as smoothly as when I rode WBP and the design of the features always seems to put me in the right place, with the caveat being, I had to stay relaxed, confident, and focused.
If any of those things faltered so did my riding.
That is one huge air.
