of course it would be Goat's, Filthy Ape, the rock rolls on In Deep, rolling high on Blue Velvet's wall ride, the Manager rock…..tons of stuff to make you feel like a star

What's Filthy Ape?

40s fast approaching and my coworkers think I'm super extreme. Too bad I work at home all by myself.

Is it just the rock roll? Much different than Drop In Clinic?

How many units of 'good' does clearing Filthy Ape net you?

Yes, just the rock roll. I haven't worked up the courage to try it yet. It's pretty creepy when you're standing on top of it, looking down. I'd say it's much more committing and has higher consequences than drop in clinic. It's 3 or 4x higher.

I rode Filthy Ape 3 years ago and was much more of a hack than (I think) I am now. But now I can clear to tranny on CIU!

this, and lots more. If you think a-line and dirt merchant takes serious skill than you need to give your head a shake.

Im sorry if some of you feel I was targeting you I guess i was generalizing but really the people im talking about are the huckers out there that ruin it for the rest of us. If something isnt within your skill level dont do it. And yes the garbo trails is where the real skill on a bike comes into play.

Is there an overriding authority that registers what is good or not? I'd hate to feel any sort of accomplishment while riding when it turns out I don't deserve it.

NSMB "is" the overriding authoritai, and you must respect it.

Tom pro 's line would be a top contender . I still remember the day D Kelly , BT , Pro amd my self were scoping the terrain up in Garbo and walked onto that ridge . Tree of us walked away thinking shit a dead end , then we hear Pro in the back ground " that 'll be a line " The three of us convinced pro to take another line for o sin , but the shale master was born that day. Watching J.B. ride it on a hard tail is somthing to see.

I haven't Shale Mastered yet. Too steep! But even if I'm not hitting the big lines, I still enjoy myself.

It's one thing to hit a 'line' that is already there, but another to pioneer one. That's what really makes a great rider.

I may cop some shit for this comment though (and it certainly is not directed at you dmurph, you've only brought it to mind)… hardtails get way too much credit from people who don't ride them. I've spent a lot of time riding DH on one and really, once you've spent enough time on one it really becomes a non issue. Lot's of people have given me undeserved 'wows' for riding stuff on a hardtail only because it has been a long time since they've been on one. If you spend one afternoon on one, it seems like a ridiculous feat to be riding it like you ride you DH bike. Give it a week, and the only difference becomes how sore and tired you get, the upper speed limit on really rough terrain, and the low tolerance for error. Other than that, it's a bike and you ride as hard as what you've got. Flame away, but that's how I see it.
