A huge thanx to the guys at Fanatyk Co.
The Fox RC2 on my Norco Six SE was spewing oil and completely absent of rebound damping after a day at the park. I showed up (at the store) 9am the next morning expecting the worst(if I were back home in Toronto, it would mean that I'd have to ship it off to Montreal and [at least] a 2 week wait). The guys at the shop were friendly and really helpful, telling me the problem could be one of three things and that (regardless of the specific problem) could probably have it done by 1pm. We showed up at the shop around noon (not wanting to hound them) and the mechanic was just putting it up on the stand (when I showed up in the morning, they had at least a dozen bikes in front of mine, waiting for repair). While watching the mechanic work (he worked super fast, reminding me of a motorsports mechanic) he quickly diagnosed the prob and told me I wouldn't need any parts, (aside from seals). I asked him how many forks they had repaired this year, he said a few a day/7days a week. Another staff member looked it up and said that they have replaced seals on 207 forks so far this season, giving some idea of the volume of work they do (they're expecting to repair another 50 forks this coming week). I rolled the bike out of the shop at 1:10 pm with a fresh rebuild and still had enough time for 15 laps of CIU.
You guys ROCK !
Thanx again.

Bike repairs in Whistler
Excellent :) I was also very thankful for the quick repairs in Whistler…the turnaround is amazing! I went to Evolution, and they were awesome!
I worked at a mom-and-pop shop in Ontario back in high school, and I would have to tell people they had to leave their bike at the shop for a month if they wanted a spring tune-up. Yikes.
Make sure to thank your mechanics. Crankworx is a really busy and stressful time, and I imagine that mechanics can feel the brunt of that. While everyone else is busy having good times, shop employees are slaving away.
Bring them beer!
And say Thank You.
Oh! Thank the lifties too. They're schlepping our bikes around all day and don't get to ride.
be sure to throw a sixer of kokanee in their beer fridge!
I offered beer, but he was happy with an iced tea. I also bumped into him at the end of the day while I was heading back to our hotel and he was on his way for a ride and gave him a great big thank you. He was happy to hear it and I was glad I saw him.
As well, I ALWAYS thank the lifties when I get scanned and grab my bike at the top.
I've had my bike fixed by the Fantykco people a few times over the years. Fast
and great work.

name some names/QUOTE]
Len (I asked his name) was the first guy who had a quick look at it and was somewhat re-assuring when he told me he didn't think the cartridge ($450) was shot.
My mechanic was wearing silver rimmed glasses and had the front and center stall. I'm not sure, but he looked Asian to me. I feel stupid, I should have asked his name.
It's funny,(and very much appreciated) that Len must have heard my plight while I was 'splaining it to the dude at the counter, piped up from behind somewhere and knocked a day off the turn-around. He then went to the trouble of pulling a new cartridge off the wall (and grabbed a Fox double crown he was working on) and explained what can potenially go wrong with the fork.
