I'm thinking of building a double or triple step-up to a double step-down. Anyone done or seen this? Would it work? Any suggestions? I don't want to put forth that much effort or materials and have it not work.
Would this work?
seems like the stepups would need to get progressively smaller as you lose speed otherwise you'd jave to pedal your ass off. either that or im not getting it.
i think you need to explain it a bit better. but everything will work if you build it properly and have somebody good enough to ride it
If you followed each stepup with a dip to pump for speed to the next stepup it might work i.e. step up to a roller down a bit then back up higher. Otherwise like Giggler said, you'd lose too much speed.
Do you mean something like this:
……………._……………..
……………/………..\…………….
….……./………….\…….…..
…/…\/……………\/…\….
../………………………………..\..
./………………………………….\.
/……………………………………\
It depends on how high the step up is though. Trails like Pipe Dream have small step ups to a plateau that you step down from and you can keep lots of speed up.

Yep. I'm thinking about progressively smaller stepups into dishes. It wouldn't have occured to me if I didn't have a perfect spot for it. I have a really fast down into a mild rise with a little flat at the top and a STEEP down on the other side.
if you saw the steps ups on last years gap o tron, try and copy that, they seemed to have had it dialed in.
Shouldn't be too much work unless you have bad dirt or something.
MY PHONE HAS A PHONE BOOK:drool:
Some talk of this in one of my old threads.
A very rough sketch in post #17 gives people an idea of continuing step ups.
