that's the same spot? Wow, how the forest grows! Where is this?

Same spot. Seems like the last few years, things have been growing like crazy. I think last year, most of the young firs added at least foot of height. The forest is a privately-owned tree farm south of B.C. And no, they don't fertilize or anything to make the trees grow faster :) The nice thing is the blackberries are growing up into the tops of the trees which is usually their last desperate attempt at survival before being shaded out.

As promised, here is some work-in-progress in my preferred medium: stone. To give a sense of scale, the largest piece in the right half of the first pic is 4 feet long.

What looks like a trail coming in from the top-of-frame is actually the rock haul route and will be re-vegged once the quarry is decommissioned. The trail actually comes in from the left side of the frame where the large chunk of rotten wood is leaning against the tree, makes a hard right before dropping down a little into the rock.

This does need a little gold dust to finish it off, the approach will be armored to protect the tree roots, and that rotten stump will get mitered off a little more so you won't smack it if you come out wide.
