the use of two smoke seams a little excessive, saves a little time and elbow grease but i don't understand your pursuit for perfect stingers. i think i would have paid more attention to the transition onto the bridge.

In that particular area it was slim pickings for cedar. We opted to rip that one larger log into quarters to provide us with stringers for two crossings. We square them off as needed (3 sides) to speed up building square/level structures.
These particular crossings are primarily used for hikers, but we do try and build for all. So even if the transition is small, its better than nothing.

Makes sense for a foot bridge, I guess I prefer to carry a lighter pack into the trail and do the extra work of squaring stingers with hand tools.

The smilies have been taken up my a lot of saw workers. THey are everywhere now.

Nope, we are working farther north.
The Smileys are contagious, I like them as they are a subtle brand that mtn bikers are doing the trail clearing. People that see them on mtn bike trails will know that mtn bikers are clearing multi-use trails too.
