Curious though, as I've built a few bridges, some small, some huge and there is a debate as to how far to space rungs. Some say two fingers, some say one; to allow dirt and other debris to clear. I see you left little to no gap. What are your thoughts on rung gap?
This is not a criticism, just curious as to what other builders consider as to what the "standard" is.
good question and we def discussed it here…my plan is im going to dirt top it in the future.. we dont seem to have the traffic of the shore to cause mud buildup .. hopefully im right.. :)
to be honest i have to say that there have been a few of these bridges built w gov. money on the coast.. so far no probs w mud etc..i liked the way their bridges were running so i went with their idea for deck boards…

We dont get the whistler traffic. If it turns out to be an issue i can always head up w a battery powered skill saw and rip 1/2" off each board.

3 inch spacing is too big for dog's paws. New standards are 1 inch spacing to accomodate dogs.
