holy smokes a civilized conversation? perhaps we are onto new beginnings? why not i say!

in the spirit of such….we are taking a stab at a trail building group…we have a facebook page etc…drop by if you like…

the page is one week old, so not a lot of content yet…some shots of stuff linden is working on in west sechelt.. I'm going to have to go check it..

so i milled up two slabs so far. it was getting dark as i finished so no picts. they are 13 ' + long , 18" wide tapering down and the big one is approx 8 " thick and the smaller one is 5 " thick. . too big for me to move by myself.

i filed my chain to 15 degrees as the guide didn't have a 10 and i figured it was better than stock. I'm not sure if that was good or not. next time i will swap in my other chain and do a comparison test.

cool device. i made a couple mistakes first time out. should be strait forward going on now tho..

Yea that is pretty good…fairly simple to operate as it turns out….

That's very cool. I assume you're using that for table or counter tops..
On that size slabs how do you deal with wood movement (lol). I mean twist, wind, cupping etc - not the other kind :lol:

looks like coffee tables and end tables to me . live edge tables are always nice

That pic isnt mine, I havent got pics of my piles so i grabbed that off the webz to show trail worker there.

Ive made a coffe table and a set of shelves.

yea thats what i figured. the slabs i made are going to make some work tables for my greenhouse. as soon as i can get 6 guys to help me move one..

lol , I have built work tables like that before …. costs almost as much in beer for the buddies to help move!

i know there is a equation to figure on drying time for a slab like those based on thickness of bark……..
