RIP - Natural High

I've also gone and hiked looking at options to link the 2nd switchback to just west of Pipeline. With the new parking lot I think many people would utilize something there. Brings you out above Bobsled then downhill back to parking.

This could be the ideal route/option alternative to a parallel trail to BP as the ground is considerably less steep and rocky and is great open benched terrain. It wouldn't be too much more climbing than the BP east of the Pipeline/Ladies exits and there would be a number of descent options from the 2nd switchback.

Maybe Mark and Digger could go up there and scope it out if they haven't already?

Haven't been to Fromme since early winter. Is the parking lot now open or parking as usual? Just planning where to drop the boy versus where I park and start riding from.

I tried to ride it back in September after that first wind storm. There was a ton of blowdown some of which has taken out some structures and is hard to even carry a bike over or around. Getting it going again would be a serious project.

I mourn the loss of my favourite finishing trail every time I ride past that parking lot.

I'm holding onto the hope that someone will build a trail from the water towers and run it behind the parking lot an into Natural High.

As many people have posted before, that trail was a great trail to practice some shore skills.

Didn't see anything the other day at the bottom of the trail. Maybe more blowdown caused the closure?

This is bit of a waste to see it go, but understandable because of the parking lot. It didn't need to be a total loss though. A couple of years ago Rob put a lot of work into the new bridges. The day he was working on that, my and my friend moved a ton of rock to smooth out the alternate exit on the trail. The big rain storms took a toll on that though.

I hiked it a few weeks back and it didn't seem like it would take much work to get going again. AFAIK just bring up a decent chainsaw, cut out some downed trees and she's good to go. There's a trail skidded in from the parking lot to where NH begins.

^^ yup, its still an official trail on the DNV map. No permit is needed for clearing deadfall.

I would be nuts enough to help rebuilding parts when back in Vancouver.

you need a permit to run a chainsaw on DNV land.

so it's probably not advisable. you could get a visit from the trail cops, especially with where that trail is located.
