SFU contracted J Hoots to build a pump track and jumps on top of BBY Mtn. The pump track is sweet. The jumps are easy. Two sets. A small set and a large set of tables.
Todays rain will pack the berms. In a few days the dirt will be perfect.
Thanks SFU for shelling out bucks for a riding playground and thanks J for letting me test the pump track with your Norco Rampage.

Fast pump track. Super fun and fitted well for mtb's. DJ lines are great too. Pretty good for a small community-based facility.

Minor Correction - this was built by SFU Community Trust, the master developer for the UniverCity community, due to a growing number of youth in the community. Fortunately, it's a great addition to any ride on Burnaby Mountain.

It is temporary (approx 4 years) until the lot is developed:

Cant wait to bring the kids to check it out.

Yup… temporary and 4 years is a conservative timeline.

That said, it is hoped that the park is well loved and respected so it fosters community support. If that is the case, then the longer term goal would be to find a permanent home for such a facility.

In the short term, it was silly to see a cleared site with a pile of spectacular sand and clay-based dirt sitting on doing nothing but blowing dust.

So Jay was called to the rescue.

haha, the track didn't look like that when i was there! I like the pumps after the DJ's that can get you back to the start without pedalling.

It made for an "interesting" start during the cardiac classic xc race this past weekend…
