is all cedar good cedar?

This stuff was impossible to split nicely. I used my axe and wedges to break it in to smaller chunks and free hand milled it with the saw.

I've used yellow cedar before but this tree was by far the hardest one I've tried to work with. The bridge isn't perfect, but it is far better than the mess it covered. It will be about 30'x5' when completed.

which is too bad frankly, as i'm totally open to talking about trail stuff to anyone. got a technique tip for me?

that's cool, no worries then. it's just in the past past you've taken what i've thought as a bit more than a few joking shots at me.

i know you do good work out at the lot so def feel to throw any advice out there.

thanks for all the info.. pretty sure they are young red cedars that Ive found - blown right over so they should make decent 15' stringers. I just thought that the smaller cedars sometimes get punky pretty quick even though they are cedars. I should have taken some pics of some of the cedar quarries Ive found..i love the smell of fresh split old growth. mmmmm

Dam those are nice.
After fighting a knotted cedar ,till I finally got out the chainsaw.
