Any tips to get this $99 p.o.s. to idle? 1st tank of gas, only fired it up for a few minutes, and it won't idle unless you're on the throttle. Do I need to let it break in? or do I need to fuk with the carb?

RTFM = read teh facking manual? if so, then yes I did, no maintenance/tuning info in there, just a bunch of safety liability stuff, how to adjust chain tension etc.

There is a H/L adjustment, but it doesnt look like its a flat head screw.

I'm gonna run it for a tank or two this weekend and see if it loosens up a bit and starts idling.

I'll play around with the idle adjuster after work today. Hopefully it's that simple.

it seems likely. chances are the idle is factory set for a smoothly running, fully broken-in engine and the (rough) new parts are providing extra resistance, slowing idle down to the point of stalling… ???

the idle adjuster will probably determine how much throttle in applied while the trigger is released.

- I GUESS. -

I have only owned one saw (John Deere).

yep, tightened up the idle screw and she runs pretty good now. After the windstorm today I'm sure I can find some blowdown to buck out tomorrow.

points and laughs at forrester that didn't know how to tune a saw

yep, I am a tuning noob. My stihl has always ran great from day one.

And if you think Foresters run around the woods with chainsaws… :dizzy:
