Why is there all this talk about losing CBC to a bulldozer?
I'm trying to get a definitive response from the NSMBA on CBC's future, but it seems that their relationship with the LSCR has soured. LSCR doesn't tell us much, they just go in and do what they want and tell us later. LSCR first destroyed structures on Neds and CBC, then they decommissioned Aftertaste, Lola, and a week ago, Cambodia. Trails like Boogieman and Pingu Pangor are, afaik, not within their tenure so I think they're safe. Previously there was talk of possibly being able to keep a sanitized version of Cambodia as a future sanctioned trail, so when they went in and destroyed it, that was unexpected.
Discussions in meeting minutes seem to indicate the LSCR has a desire for a machine built (i.e. mini-bulldozer) beginner/intermediate trail in the vicinity of CBC that would hook up all the way to Dales. LSCR also rejected NSMBA's maintenance proposal for CBC. Reading between the lines, that means CBC, in whole or in part, is on the chopping block. If you've ridden upper Dales recently, something like that could be the future of CBC, unless we rally and do something about it.
Is this just a rumor? God I hope so, but so far no one has contradicted it. The latest update from LSCR suggests, I think, that they have "maintenance" scheduled to start during the August time frame to bring trails like CBC up to "sustainable standards". Judging from the lack of information coming from LSCR and the fact they rejected NSMBA's maintenance proposal, many of us believe we have a legitimate reason to be very concerned about the future of CBC. "Bring trail up to sustainable standards" could be bureaucrat-ese for "trail to be decommissioned and replaced by executive decision". There's nothing sustainable about machine built trails.

If all of this is just based on rumours and hearsay, that would be awesome. But things don't sound good.
