cedar for fire wood?

I was in a clear cut shooting some clays and it was laying there. So I cut it up, split it, and tossed it in the back of the truck.

One kid I grew up with tried to cut his head in half from a kick back so I quite conscience of safety.

Growing up a neighbour did that cutting up an old cabin, he was working with the saw above his head. The only thing that saved his life was that he was wearing wire rim glasses. The chain sucked the glasses off his face and jammed the chain. He was lucky to only cut his nose in half and not his skull.

I love my helmet/shield/ear-pro combo.

A helmet protects you from more than just the saw. I've been clobbered by a falling branch (not chainsaw related) while out working in the woods. Walking out of the woods with a gushing head wound is not fun.

I now carry a good first-aid kit whenever I'm working in the woods.

Btw.

Saws and guns, this thread delivers.

I spent about 1200$ to cut trees and only $649 of that was the saw … most of the rest was the helemt/ear protection, chaps, safety caulk boots

What do people use for a helmet, face shield and hearing protection when riding in with a saw? (I have a chainsaw hard hat for non-bike times.)

So far I've been using a bike helmet with safety glasses and ear muffs. I want to get a new pair of ear muffs for this year but just wondering if there is a better option.

(sorry about the huge pic)

Good on you for wearing the above.

I would say you got legs, eye, ear and head protection covered. Hard to have more when on a bike.

Personally I am not a fan of the chaps. They just don't do well in a tree. But on the ground they are great.

Here is my setup.

A husky upper with Kevlar for chest / neck protection

Bottoms are full pants with Kevlar all the way around from top to bottom.

Here is the WCB rating on them.

And helmet which is also WCB rated "because of the chin strap for climbing"

Attach the image or upload to somewhere like photobucket, copy the image location and use the "insert image" button.

Awesome setup btw!
