Squamish Trail Conditions (2012)

Up until the snow this week the trails in Squamish had been quite good. FSR's to and from the trails were very soft [HTML_REMOVED] wet, though once on the trails they were draining well and firm.

Half Nelson has a section of the hillside missing (downside of the trail), which has in turn taken away a section of the trail just before the large 180 degree corner leading to the covered bridge. Use extreme caution when in this area.

What are the Alice Lake Trails like now? Thinking of some XC this weekend.

Cheers!

Snowed down into town last night, and changed back to sleet in the afternoon. Looks like another cold night tonight, and then rainslop on Sunday. Unless you like riding slush, snow, and mud, probably not great riding conditions. Maybe some of the estuary and cheekeye loops are open, but it's kinda winter.

Just back from some trail building in the ring creek area. Too much snow to ride in that area.

Yesterday was the first time trails were accessible in a while.

Recommendation - Valleycliffe. Nearly all clear.

Ring creek and Alice Lake areas still have snow - those areas could also use a rest during the wet season (when is it not the wet season in squamish?)

Please ride with a small saw (swede saw). Fair bit of blow down from the freezing rain, winds and snow. Lots of saws out there will clean that stuff up quickly.

Also good for killing trees that get in the way of your 32" bars. Be sure to leave the stumps nice and high!
