Owl Creek forrest service site is a great camp spot. Nice to be able to ride straight back down there after Resi laps.

The mosquitoes are pretty vicious up there right now. Great weekend of riding though. Definitely dusty, but not too bad.

Great intel on the Owl Creek site. Highly recommend that spot to anyone thinking of camping in Pemby.

The shop in town said JTR was still inaccessible so opted to climb up to Rudy's, halfway up middle earth. Definitely an easy fun rip down to overnight.

JTR is NOT clear yet. Still snow at top and lots of trees down.

The bottom is being re-worked to avoid private land and will be very clearly signed by the end of the week. Stay LEFT at intersection above cut block. When you get to Owl Creek be sure to CROSS THE CREEK. Do NOT go down double track onto private land. If you are not willing to cross the creek dont ride the trail. There is a trail to a good log crossing with an old climbing rope to assist. When across creek follow orange flagging for a few hundred metres to Owl Crk FSR.

Gonna try to clear it Sat if it stays hot and melts the snow enough to get the trials bike thru…

Yes, for a few weeks now. Almost back to pre-injury fitness. Still struggling on the power moves up steep stuff with ledges and roots but it gets better every ride. Rode whistler yesterday down Rockwork/Korova/Wizards. Was a good test of abilities to see where I'm at.

Cheers for that. Really interested in trying JTR. Recent pictures (from last year on Traiforks/Pb) make it look fantastic.

Any update on JTR since last week? Was thinking of riding it tomorrow. Cheers.

+++ to JTR for all your work up there. Would like to re-emphasize that riders should avoid following the road descending through the cut block. The land owner at the bottom is not happy about riders crossing their land.

Cleared the deadfall today. Be sure to follow the signs and CROSS THE CREEK at the bottom. With the current routing of the trail and the deactivation of the logging roads it will be difficult to go wrong up there.

The old exit to Reid road is completely obliterated. Do not attempt to go that way, follow the new trail. There are arrows carved into trees. Orange flagging and a couple of Jacks skis marking the way.

When you get to owl creek DO NOT go down the old double track past the private property signs. Follow the ski and orange flagging and cross the creek. Once across follow orange flagging to owl creek FSR. It spits out about 100m above the hydro tower.

If you are not willing to cross the creek do not ride the trail. There is chicken wire on the log, a handline and even a pulley with a sling on it to hold your bike if you don't want to carry your bike across. Don't be the guys that go onto private land and get the trail closed. Many hours have gone into making this thing legit and on crown land, don't fuck it up.

UPDATE: as of may 19 the trail is routed back to Reid road. Very clearly signed. Some large deadfall after you exit the clearcut. Apparently the first crew to ride it over to owl didn't follow the signs and went out thru private land near owl crk.

The new landowner at Reid road has granted access for now. RESPECT his privacy. Do not litter. DO NOT park on or adjacent to his property if you feel the need to shuttle. DO NOT hang out on or adjacent to his property and drink beer after.

Highly recommend parking at mosquito lake if not riding from town. It's a short spin back up Reid road after the ride and a swim feels pretty good after JTR.

Rode Jack the ripper yesterday with some buddies . Holy F that takes a bit of doing to get up there from town lol 1700m of climbing !Trail was super sick . Has trees down near the very bottom leading to the re rout but otherwise it was awesome ! Props to whoever built that , must have taken soooo long !
