Cypress 2013 Conditions

Looks like the district cleared the deadfall at the side of the road where reaper starts. Unfortunately they threw it all down the start of reaper, making it near impossible to ride the trail. Will need a couple hours work and a chainsaw to clear out.

DWV doesn't clear Cypress Bowl Road. That would be Highways.

Pre-Reaper (a.k.a. Conservancy Crossing) has been cleared. Some of the trees were 450 to 500 years old! Watch your elbows as you ride through.

Send your thanks to [email protected].

DWV didn't clear anything south of the Old Growth Conservancy. Blind Skier is in the hands of the dedicated chainsaw fairies.

Rode up the BLT to Pull Tab and Upper Tall Cans yesterday. Trails were all in great shape.

It turns out that for all these years the trail that I thought was Lower Tall Cans is actually something called Single Lane Traffic. Tall Cans (Lower) actually begins a bit futher up the BLT. It's a fun loop that's definitely steeper than the upper part with a surprisingly old-school gnar elevated log crossing with pretty serious consequences and no real walkaround. Overall not sure I prefer it to SLT but it's nice to have options on the way down. Next: A[HTML_REMOVED]M Connector, another trail I probably never would have found without the app.

I'm totally loving Cypress AM these days.

There's nothing better than an Orangina after cheating death with Digger.

There are many many many trees down over the trails on the west side of Cypress - you have been warned!
I noticed that some kind trail fairy has been working his/her way uphill with a chainsaw - if you're reading this, better bring plenty of fuel when you get higher :damn:

Does anyone have any info on that 'secret' trail that starts at the top of the mountain [HTML_REMOVED] finishes at the bottom? You know, the one that's sometimes named after that photographer?!

I'm hearing mixed reports, from "good to go" to "1.5 hours of bush-whacking to get in there".

Has anyone been up there lately?

Thanks

Original line only so far. One re-route, but it was all good.

it was cleared by 4 people, 2 each on 2 separate full days. a lot of fuel was burned clearing it.

and that is after some hardcores had already cut a lot of the smaller diameter stuff with handsaws

that stuff kind of looked intentionally cut to block the trails, conspiracy on my part?

I'm happy to get outside and enjoy nature while I can, but I fear for the future of humanity
