Does this include the Forbidden Plateau?

Where are you going as an alternative?

Going to be close by for part of July and had been looking forward to some Cumberland riding…..

I was planning on coming over in a couple of weeks too. May have to ride elsewhere. Pray for rain!

Yep, same here. Got three nights accommodation booked that will have to be cancelled…

Looks like I'll be pounding out the kms on the road bike based on how this summer is shaping up…

yeah, not ideal for any of us. we're expecting it to be enforced as well and don't want to loose the right to ride here. gotta be mindful of our corporate overlords.
will be heading to Snowdon trails west of Campbell River and down to Englishman river (Hammerfest) trails. more driving, less riding i'm afraid…
access to the best waterfalls (Stotan) to cool off in also closed about a week ago. private land owners surrounding the area…

just a heads up…Hammerfest trails are on Island Timberlands land and they have closed public access due to the current conditions

lots of sweet sweet rain. more than anyone anticipated i reckon. no word yet on trails though. i imagine the fire danger must have dropped considerably but i don't know the official word. i can't imagine the overlords are in any hurry to lift the order. let's hope they do.

Excellent! Hopefully, there'll be more to come.

It may be worth pointing out to the overlords the impact on the towns economy if tourist s such as myself have to cancel our planned visits…

the economy of their town suffers a lot more if some careless idiot lights their forest on fire.

trails are now open. BTW i'm just a local rider, no official ties to any groups or organizations. my more informed mates just told me that our monday ride is open as the trails are good to go.

Very very true! And I wouldn't want to ride if the fire risk was that high but just observing that some land owners can be slow to open up access once safe…

Anyway, looks like they've already done so, so huge kudos!!

How are things riding in Cumberland these days? I'm thinking of riding Sat/Sun Oct 18-19 depending on weather since I'm on the island for work the following week.

Never been, best to stop in at Dodge City and chat and buy a map?
