Thinking of heading over to the island this weekend. Are the trails in Cumberland in rideable condition? Don't mind staying low and on XC trails as I'll be riding with the missus, but if I can sneak off for some fun stuff that would be great, too. :)

Bonus points if you can suggest trails the aforementioned missus would like. Fun and flowy with little to no tech is generally her preference.

I'll take you guys for a ride if you'd like :)

The trails are pretty good down low, a bit of snow up where you really don't want her riding anyway, so you're in good shape.

teapot / damn trail / crafty butcher is always a fun choice.

As usual, super boring and meh-city. I think it's clear of snow though.

Thirsty Beaver and above still have snow, but on the other side of the creek Bear Buns is mostly bare. Tea Pot would be a great fairly smooth descent, it's still one of my favorites (great for pumping on a hardtail). Some logging recently around lower Crafty Butcher, there is a trail day on Sunday to clear it up. Upper and Middle Crafty are minimal tech, they would be pretty good for someone who isn't into the gnarl. Another easy option down is Bronco's Perseverance, although the very last 20m or so is really rooty.

Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.

Can anyone tell me where the snow line is at the moment on Cumberland and if it is possible to shuttle up to the old Ski lodge (and of course get access to the trails) on Forbidden?

Also, Any new trails I should check out?

Cumby is ok to about tea pot. Bear Buns and some of thirsty beaver is open. New trails to the south side of town.

Forbidden is still snow covered from the lodge. Some ability to climb up from the dam to middle and lower trails.

New Cumby trails are not on the map yet, but I could send info.

Some trail reports have been submitted yesterday for Cumberland

I tried riding Forbidden last year in April, ended up pushing our bikes through snow for an hour… I would wait. Plenty of good trails lower down.

Quite different snow line this year. Much of Cabin Fever is now rideable.
