Does anyone know when its going to open?
Burnaby skills park
Open now for anyone not aware.
Has any maintenance been done in the park before it opened?
I was there a couple of weeks ago when it was still closed to check things out and the dirt jumps looked pretty beat.
Does anyone know if it is ok to bring my own tools and fix up the jumps?
Or is there a group that takes care of maintaining the park that will get pissed at me for doing some work on the dirt jump line?
technically no you aren't supposed to work on it yourself… but the city didn't really do any prep on it before opening either.

contact Jay Hoots first. I'm sure he'd be stoked to have riders maintaining it. (I'm not sure what Burnaby's view on that is though, but Jay will know)
Who else thinks that the park could/should be expanded within its current boundary? There is so much space up top and on the flats down below for tons of challenging lines [HTML_REMOVED] features across all ability levels. How about some natural wood, rock and dirt intensity like an outdoor version of some of what has been built at the Ray's Indoor parks? It would be interesting to hear what Burnaby and Hoots would have to say.
Comments?

I was talking about this yesterday, a trail that parallels the TCT by Barnet highway, possibly tying in to Hang Your Hat and Mountain Air would be really nice.
More trails on the mountain? Sounds good if they are good trails in good locations. What I was talking about was more lines and features within Mountain Air Bike Park itself.

I've thought the same, the area is huge and it seems like 50% of it is just wasted unused space. I for one would like to see some more challenging stuff added in.
Exactly. There could be a lot more challenging things: from steep roll-downs to larger drops onto a variety of transitions; to long skinny lines on the natural slope up top. There is so much space, and together with building lines that cross back and forth (even bridging over), there is room for way more, including more intermediate/kid/beginner content. As well, none of this needs to restrict what is already there and working very well. Some things need space. Some things can work with additions and new options overlaid.

so, what did hootie say when you contacted him?
shit they need to build a playground there for kids.. every time i go theres, theres frikkin kids extreme walking and aimlessly wandering around with no parent supervision. just an accident waiting to happen. whats with parents these days, would you let your kid play on the highway? a bike is a vehicle too, dont let your kids play near bike jumps. last time I was there, there was some 12 year old with a 50cc dirt bike zippin around the park and the parking lot, parents somewhere else not paying attention. shit like this will get the place closed, bikes banned, and lead to more stupid motorcycle laws to protect idiots.
