Not a peep of snow. Of course it was wet…
Burke Mtn. (2012)
……….I hiked in about 6" up there at the powerlines, on the westside, this afternoon.
On the trails I meant…

the snow line looks pretty low, below the powerlines. I don't know how deep it is or how it is in the trees though
next to nothing on the traverse to TC this morning, it was snowing lightly though………..

little bit of snow and ice on the way up to tc today, nothing of consequence. tc itself was buff and dry, except for ice on the creekbed at the bottom. roots were a bit slick or red r, and down towards dawg and hstlr it got a bit wet but not boggy, and no big puddles or bomb holes

it's dumping snow out here tonight, a couple of cm's on the ground already, expect a good covering tomorrow.
so what I'm hearing Dave, is perfect conditions?
Made some fresh tracks on TC today, climb wasn't too bad just a few cm on top of hard pack. As soon as I stepped off the the road towards the trail entrance it was up to my knees. On the trail there's about 6" of very slow, crunchy snow until around the big rock. When I got to the power lines I noticed some tracks coming from the west into red r. Is there a way up to the power lines from the west that I don't know about or are my man tracking skills that lame?
Maybe they hiked up elevator?

When you head up towards Vic's, TC, etc, you take a left fork just before Dawg. If you keep going straight, then it loops up to the powerlines by Red R.

that would be from the east, he said west.
How are those berms holding up on the CRC?
I think I'm going in again this summer to finish the job on that sweet little morsel of a trail. Heard Lady G has taken it over with her love slave? :couple:
Ya dude, throw some dirt on that gem. I would help but I am a we bit spent. :D

How's Burke this weekend, clear of snow or??
snow starts part way up the last steep pitch before the plateau where Vic's starts. I pushed on to triple crown but it was pretty nasty. trails were fine after the first couple hundred meters with the exception of a few mud holes.
on another note when I got back to my car I spoke with a guy whose truck was stolen while he was riding. saw a couple somewhat sketchy characters when I was gearing up so I passed the info to him to give to the police. anyway, obviously lock your shit and don't leave valuables in plain sight. :flame:
