Tom and I drove up Sumas with our chainsaws yesterday to clear some blow down. There was too much snow still. So we went to Ledgeview, The snow line is about halfway up. We cleared some trees along the way. The trails have suffered a lot of water damage and erosion. One positive outcome of the current recession is property development will stop saving some trails for a couple of years

We had agood time Kim. The only downside was coming back home to more ice and snow. I like coming back to wet and green after several days at Loon lake.Did brandon tell you he was being towed at 65kmh on a snow board and snow covered logging road? It was something. He was bunny hopping the steel cattle guards! Crazy Mofo.

Will anything be rideable in Abbotsford this weekend?

I was on Little Sumas on Sunday and rode/pushed to the summit of McKee Peak. There was still nearly 10" of snow at the top, and the trails from there have a lot of debris on them still, including huge chunks of ice.

Flintstones looked like it would be clear and rideable. Spawn of Bolderdash is awesome, as is Autobahn. We are planning to ride those this weekend, then on to Son of Berminator, Le Bite Me Mike, the Lost Oakley and finally Soft Taco. All should be clear of snow.

Won't the trails still be saturated with water? Isn't that really hard on the trails?

It is supposed to be 10 degrees and sunny for the next 4 days. Hopefully things dry out…

Have to - no other option really. The Woodlot kicks ass. Am already itching of riding there in the summer. :) :)

The trails on the south side of McKee Peak drain really well. The slopes there are very steep and are mainly comprised of sands and gravels.

Also, whenever I ride, be it during wet or dry conditions, I always strive to create a net benefit to the trails. Sure, there may be sections that are saturated in the wet, however I recognize that and try to mitigate any damage that may occur by adjusting my riding style or even walking my bike through it. I endeavour to clean off debris and remove deadfall to the best of my ability.

Some guys say that they don't ride in the wet. Well, I'm sorry but this is BC, if you don't ride in the wet, then you don't ride.

South side of Ledgeview is mint right now. The wetter it gets, the better it gets.

This is from the 9th..
