Has anyone ever had a problem going back up to retrieve their vehicle after the road is closed? They have always let me up with no hassle in previous years.

Bottle top repair and new bridge are complete I have been told. Just waiting for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

Looking forward to it.

A friend rode across it on Saturday, says it is pretty sweet.  Will be nice to have that link back in the trail network.  No more hike-a-bike on those damn stairs!

Skooks,

No problems, they know we go up there and are happy to let you through after you tell them why and where you are going to.

Do they actually have an attendant down by the gate? What is the purpose of closing the road anyways?

A lot of the time there is an attendant, but I can't say all the time for sure.

They close the road because they don't want asshats going up there and fucking around (street racing, doing burnouts, etc...), or people going to play in the snow with their cars (getting stuck, or going off the road). Mt Seymour is responsible for road maintenance and road safety, so once the mountain has hit closing time (when they stop selling lift tickets), uphill access is monitored/restricted (they want to see who is going up and have an idea why and what they are doing).

So what's the story with bottle top these days? I guess still closed as I was up there today and it is signed as such. Was obviously seeing traffic though and the bridge construction is done...? It there an ETA for an legit reopening?

I rode Bottletop today. Not sure whether it's "officially" open but there's nothing blocking the trail...

Have been there a couple of times since the new bridge has been open. Remarkably good condition considering having been closed for 4 years but the roots and woodwork are about as slippery as it gets without having had any traffic during the hiatus.

Cool. As of the 21st there was temporary construction fencing along the top of the ridge at the intersection with ridge runner and a sign saying do not enter, active construction area, on the post where the trail name sign used to be.

Great news about Bottletop and the bridge.
Hyannis - GSM - Dales - Forever After is in great shape. I hit it close to noon and nothing was frozen.

Sit. Rep @ 14:00hrs, March 3

Mostly icy...Hiked up Pangor. Bridle Path seemed clear but Pangor was 50/50.…higher up the snow was fairly grippy but lower it had thawed/froze so sketchy.

Lots of riders though...including one group with spiked tires!

The Darkside was 95% clear...

Seymour so mint right now... rode Severed, GSM and John Deer and Empress Bypass. Recent work on SD/GSM/JD, beautiful tacky berms on JD right now. Thank you builders.

Bridle is closed from Old Buck to the bottom of Pangor/Slash while the bridge over Taylor Creek is replaced and other upgrades are done for the aMTB loop.  Signage says it will be for most of September.
