I looked into aluminum frame repair a while back. The problem is bike frames are heat treated, so it ends up being very expensive to even try to repair between weld and heat treating and dealing with paint. On older frames it isn't economical to even consider.

Yea The seat post wasn't inserted far enough into the seat tube, I also heard that aluminum frames are hard to "fix" because they are heat treated. Rocky is sending me a crash replacement which is amazing but It still may take a while..

Allan the welder said tough repair due to the seat post. Can't reinforce inside, outside would be some kind of ghetto  mess because the weld repair probably wont hold.  Aluminum is super tricky as mentioned before.

What he said^^^

If you want someone's direct feedback, talk to Toby at Toby's Cycle. He's a very savvy guy and quite creative...who knows...you have nothing to loose at this point.

Toby did a jerry rig on an old Rocky Switch of mine that had developed a crack at the rear suspension joint. It was a bit Franken-bike, but for $150, it gave the bike enough of an extended life that I was able to ride it until I could afford a new ride.

A friend had his frame repaired by a welder & the welder told him that whatever you do, do not sandblast it before welding. I guess they don't like the micro particles of sand in there.
