nobody "owns" a trail…but… habitual builders/maintainers EARN "ownership" through their sweat equity of flagging it,clearing it, continually monitoring it and maintaining it..and putting up with ignorant trail abusers attitudes.

the people who ride it but never do any work own shares as well. they just dilute the stock to the point of being worthless.
if you want to own one outright ,don't make a public offering!

Exactly. And that is what the article was getting at. Too bad not everyone can see it that way…
