A friend wants to rent bikes for just cruising around double track in the lower mainland, but I can't think of where you can rent a cheap mtb that would be suitable. Any ideas?

Simon's and Obsession also rent bikes for city riding..

This trip to Kelowna was definately an undertaking - Liam and I had been planning this project for 24 hours. We worked really hard to pull out all the stops in this video. We had slo-mo goggle shots; time lapses; pedal flips; outrageous product shots; unloading and loading the bike; walking through the field with your hand in wheat. At the end of the day this trip was all about just getting out and riding with all my friends.

there are a tonne of shops by Stanley Park that have lots of bikes to rent. Might find what you're looking for there, but they could all be hybrids.

you can borrow my xc/am bike Steve, I barely ride it and I know you are well versed in rebuilding the ata forks so no worries there!

Cove only rents DH bikes.
I think John Henry has a program going but may be more bike than your friend needs for toolin' around. Probably not cheap either.
There's some community bike shops on Main st that will probably rent you a bike for cheap.
