Unwanted Cypress building

One of the things that makes riding on the shore great is the variety of trails, both sanctioned and unsanctioned. While the terrain strongly lends itself to more difficult trails rather than easy ones, there is a trail experience for everyone out there (except maybe huge booters, but they still exist as one-offs). While it might not be NSMBA or MV's mandate to have the best trail network in the world, I believe we just might have it if you take all the trails into account.

One of the issues though is that it seems to me we are running out of room for new trails, and/or have quite a few neglected trails, which I why I recommend adopting an existing trail rather than building a new one. You can really learn a lot by adopting a trail, and can even put your own spin on it. And in my experience land managers are far more tolerant of trail adoption rather than trail contruction.

Polymath, you have no idea of how much of a dinosaur you look like by saying that.

Maybe.  But at least I am real.  No motors.  No dumbing down.  Do it or go home.  No cheater lines.  No giving in.  As someone whom was a long time Shore resident said to me, off hand, "cowards die many times, brave men die only once".  I know where I'd rather be.

My post wasn’t about your ebike comments.

I get how they end up on heat maps, but how the heck do these trails end up being actually mapped on map sites/apps? People actually proactively add "unofficial" trails to maps? Just... Why? Same goes for strava segments. Just unnecessary and fans the flames.

open street/cycle map is open source, anyone can contribute. there are people who have the need to map the "real" world as it is. and those maps are the basis for most commercial maps like komoot and strava

I understand the mechanics. I don't understand the motivation.

ppl have stranger hobbies. i once had a colleague who liked to read changelogs of various linux distributions to know the differences in each iteration. he build a database just for that.

With regards to your ebike comments, sure Wade and Dre are paid athletes that ebike.

I'm one of the others mentioned by Cam.

Our ebike crew consists of the builders of Family guy, Jersey Shore, Brutus, Shit Connector, Lower Paul Hogan, Skid Mark, Pamela Handerson.

If you have riden Cypress in the last 25 years you have probably rode something we worked on. I personally worked 43.5hrs in January on Cypress.

I built Family Guy in 2002 and have over 4000 hrs on Cypress.

But yeah ebikers are a bunch of wankers who can't cut on a real bike.

I wish I was a real man, maybe there's hope yet.

Ebikers have a reputation of not contributing, but I can assure you all that that does not extend to all ebikers.

I don’t think that I know anyone who’s contributed more to Cypress than Ivan above. He and his crew might even make up for all the lame ebikers!!!!!
