UK Downhill Action?

Hi,

A mate of mine is returning to the UK (poor sod) after becoming addicted to biking on Fromme. Anyone know where he can find decent downhill action in the UK either generally, and more specifically closer to his future home in Essex.

Thanks in advance

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

having just come the other way, the short answer is NO. The "best" trails will make stuff like Krinkum Krankum and other "easy" shore trails seem like a wet dream that he had once.

Obviously this is a worst case scenario, but get him to check out www.chocolatefoot.co.uk for some hook ups, and get racing - dragon dh series is best, but will require some travelling.

Aston Hill has some good stuff and membership is pretty cheap. I rode there a few times when I lived in Uxbridge.

Dirt magazine talks about several places, mostly in Scotland or Wales from what I gather. But I have never ridden there - the last time I travelled around the UK, mountain biking had not been invented yet, and neither had BMX. That was a while ago, then.

If I wasn't heading out I'd be selling all my bikes and getting back on recreational drugs.

It's shit over here.

You bunch of Les Miserables! But yes, you're right - it is not freeride heaven. But the new downhill track at Cwmcarn is great - although it's not exactly in Essex.

Essex is probably about as fun as Death Valley for DH.
