I sent Dirt a letter about the Rockers…
Here it is for y'all to see. :)
My name is Justin Jadunath, and I'm from Surrey, BC. Canada. I just picked up the latest issue of Dirt, that has the interview on my friends the Bicycle Rockers.
I am writing you tonight to tell you a little story about the Bicycle Rockers.
Over a two years ago, my daughter was diagnosed with Acute Myological Leukemia. She had Cancer. We went to hell and back with her treatment, and after 6 months we though all was well.
It came back.
She went back into BC Children's Hospital, to face more chemo, and drugs. All the while my wife and I had no job, and no income, save for a small trust -fund account that we had set up at my bank. Money slowly came in and we survived off of it, and various charities, that the hospital had access too. We were severly in trouble. Some things that our daughter Trinity needed were not provided by the Medical system, and we had to find money to get what she needed, weather it be, organic foods, clothes, for coming home, and other assorted expenses. When I had mentioned on the Bulletin Boards of NSMB.com that we were thinking of doing a Fund-Raiser. Jesse Roberts, Leader of the Rockers, offered his help. He offered to design a T-Shirt with out daughter's name emblazoned upon it. The shirt would be sold at the launch party for the company and at other venues. Such as a race at a local 4X track, at the Outdoor Sports Show, and at our second and last fund-raiser. As it was we were busy with taking care of Trinity, and we left him the duties of designing the shirt. Needless to say his design was beautiful. It was Trinity's name three times, and her tricycle at the bottom of the graphic, with a big star behind it all.
Jesse, Melissa, Haruki, Jim, and all of the people that make up the Bicycle Rockers blew us away with their generosity, their love, and their compassion for us. They never knew us, we were just a family that needed some kind of help. They were there for us. God sent, I'd say. They raised enough money for us to put away, to provide Trinity with all that she would need. Jesse's Mom, and Dad, and his Aunt, were people that we came to love as well. They showed us all such love, that we are all very good friends.
Throughout it all the Rockers would come and visit Trinity. They would play with her, talk to her, and even go out and find Tortellini for her. My daughter was loved by these young souls, and she loved them. They were there for her service, and Jesse's parents took over the helping hand that thier son first shown. They created a huge mural of pictures of Trinity for the wake. Such a beautiful wall of photos, of a child that will never be forgotten. We will always be there for them too, should they ever need us. Such is our debt to them.
I just want to say, "Thank You." to Jesse, and Haruki, and Melissa and all of the people who gave their all to Trinity. God Bless.
