Thinking about getting back in the saddle!!

Hey all,

I haven't frequented NSMB in years, and haven't ridden in even longer (over a decade, man time flies). I now live in downtown Vancouver, and I am curious to how the whole riding scene is these days and where I can maybe join some group rides as I don't know any of the trails around the lower mainland.

Also, how are most buildings for allowing the storage of a mtn bike in your suite, I am potentially moving to a new place in the next month or so and don't really want to have a big headache associated with sneaking a bike around in the building to my suite, nor do I want to put my bike in a bike room.

I appreciate any advice, and I am really excited to ride again!

Edit* Also, I guess I should say what kind of riding I do. I used to ride big mtn/ free ride, dirt jump, DH etc. These days I am thinking more along the lines of flowy downhill, enduroish kind of riding.

I remember shops used to have group rides after they closed on certain days, do things like that still exist?

All you need now is a good sturdy bike. It's not like the old days when we used to hike up Fromme carrying our bikes on our shoulders.

I would not store a decent bike in the bike storage room in any condo/apartment building. Friend has had two Knolly's stolen in the last year, I believe he now stores all bikes in his apartment.

I second NSRide, great group of people and they do both weeknight (shore) and weekend rides up the Sea to Sky and Fraser valley.

second that. My friend had his Transition stolen from his condo storage locker. Even though it was on camera the bike never was returned.

Thanks a ton for the responses I am definitely going to check out NSRide to get used to peddling around again and learn some of the trails! hopefully I will see some of you guys out there! I am stoked!
