Mods, feel free to move this if you think it should be elsewhere.

Anyone know what (AW) means when it appends a segment on Strava?

PS. It's fun watching times getting bumped on the North Shore trails as we get deeper into summer.

more importantly, how do you get strava to remove trails that shouldn't be there?

You can flag them as dangerous

Good way to see who is riding illegal trails?

Easy: Don't upload that ride to strava

Easy: Don't upload that ride to strava

or make the ride private so no one else sees it

I think he's referring to other people posting trails that are not currently legit.

Looking to ride the shore but don't know where to go?

I understand that perfectly, you can still use strava to track your ride, and upload it, and make it private so no one else can see it.

I understood that they meant how can you flag a trail posted by someone else to be removed for reasons such as being illegal or super secret awesome or whatnot.

Did the ride actually exist?

Why slag free swag?

how is strava supposed to know? what if some random person has a vendetta and goes around flagging rides as illegal that aren't necessarily illegal, just cause they want to keep them secret when maybe they aren't? all I'm saying is maybe send a message to the person and ask them to make the ride private or delete the offending segments.

This is probably the best way of dealing with it. There's no way to know who actually made the segment to ask them personally, but you can go to the segment page and add a comment.
