What kind of riding are we talking about here? Should I bring my super awesome (but novice rider) girlfriend?

only if she likes hiking her bike up five steep hills and then down steep rockfaces.

I bet they could use a volunteer or two for the fruit booth midway…

re: novice girlfriend, there's a lot of hike-a-bike and some steep/tech riding. kind of a long one too. not really a ride for beginners.

re: novice girlfriend. Clark summed it up nicely. Each hill is hike-a-bike (so at least no one is leaving anyone in the dust on the way up).
Downhills for the most part are intermediate. That said there will be more than a few people walking around the harder sections (there is nothing wrong with that)

If she still wants to be part of it I do need some fruit booth vollys still so just lemme know.

re: possible deek out: doooooo it!

damn excited,
br

I think watching ZED push his bike up the hills is all the comedy this event will need.

DH bike or 5x5?

Wondering about the girlfriend too. How much more technical relative to Zappa Trails?

The important thing is good tires and disk breaks.
That and whatever bike you prefer hiking up hills with.

I'm bringing my 5x5. leaving the DH for the park.

Not sure of the zappa trails… anyone?

Did it last year for the first time, after trying to make it happen for the past few years. highly recommended for sure!

Regarding which bike to bring: i definitely would not bring a DH bike on this event, unless you don't mind pushing a LOT. Also, while there is a lot of hike-a-bike, there is a lot more pedaling before, between and at the end, where you will want your lighter bike. Also - if you're comfortable riding steep rocks in a half shell helmet, leave the full face at home because you'll probably be pretty hot in a full face if the weather is reasonable.

That being said, there will be times where you'll want your big bike if you want to ride all the cool lines. I brought a Delirium T last year (gee - no surprise there!) and it was pretty much a perfect blend for the amount of climbing and descending throughout the event.

Hope to see some of you there - cheers!

Sounds like fun.

So if I pay 20 bux, can I come ride?

Why slag free swag?

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

Before I answer this I must say that EVERY ENTRY $ goes to Squamish Search and Rescue (you can't buy Karma but this is VERY close)

SO, if you're a SORCA member - it will be 25$
One day insurance is available for $20 or you can just pony up and become a SORCA member for $50

Once again the pile of prizes is for this event is downright silly.

OH, and it was insinuated that prizes will be given away at the trail day. In fact all the prizes will be given out day of the event but your prize chances go WAY up for those able to help on the trail days.

Can we sign up in advance for this event or is it ride-day only sign in?

Also, I'm not seeing any information on the FB page or the cynicalsunshine page on where and when sign-in will occur.

Really looking forward to this event.
