Very strange screech in the woods tonight. No idea what it was. I bet some critter met its demise though.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Yeah sorry about that… I heard some idiot has been riding Ardents in wet Shore-XC conditions and had a bit of a panic when I heard another rider coming up behind me…
Turns out it was just Chris2 and as long as you aren't carrying any beer in your pack you have nothing to fear from him.

TEAM CRAFTY
Bout 10-12 years ago, I had just finished up a lap of Severed and was waiting at the end of the trail, where Bridle Path crosses the creek for the friend I was riding with to catch up. It was late in the day, sunset was not far away so light was getting a bit dim.
Heard this blood-curdling shriek … effin loud and definitely sounded like a murder in progress. Friend catches up and I say "holy shit, what was that". He says "I thought that was you messing around". Then that scream again, followed by a loud whoosh so close to my head I felt a light breeze.
I look in the direction the whoosh was headed, and on top of a tallish stump just off the trail, there was this fookin huge owl, looking straight at us. I guess we must've been a little too close to a nest or something, cause he (she?) was clearly trying to scare us off. We obliged.
Kn.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.

If you told me you heard this around my neck of the woods, i'd tell you you heard a cat.

Cats make lots of different noises, obviously, only way to know for sure is to see it or bring a competent dog with you.

That link of the cat yowling is pretty close to what I heard only it went on for about three or four seconds as a single call then stopped. I would guess a couple hundred feet away. Dogs completely uninterested.
