Sounds to me like a couple of guys working on a science experiment to safely film nocturnal activity of deer on Fromme (or some such) stumbled on a guy setting traps with the intent to injure people and turned the footage over to the cops. No expectation of privacy in public places and what not.

Note the part I've highlighted in bold. Too bad there's no reasonable expectation of privacy when you're out in public.

Someone was out in public actively sabotaging trails. Even if they didn't have any intent to harm, they were still recklessly endangering other members of the public that use those trails. Some private citizen took it upon themselves to surveil the affected area, and only the affected area.

Call the BCCLA when you see government installed game cameras every five feet on every trail for no reason.

Good effort guys! Can someone drop info in the cameras used in the process? Also, was he laying traps or just mowing down jumps? I am happy we don't have Rambo psychos that could put us in danger on bike trails.

Punishment will come from public shame and also the very real possibility of not being able to travel to certain countries due to having an arrest record.
