Just wondering out loud but the defense can simply state that riding a mountain bike fast thru the forest is inherently dangerous so you abandon all rights to safety right there.
And a few branches here and there ~ seriously? That's "sabotage"? Were there long nails or spike boards buried under loose leaves? No. This was no West Coast interpretation of Vietcong "Panji Traps".
Sounds like the mountain bikers are channeling their inner old ladies here.
Fact is no one was injured and that goes directly to her intent to do no harm. A mild nuisance at worst. Actually much like mountain bikers who have altered trails (illegally on many occasions) she was simply making the trail more challenging.
A real mountain biker with elementary skills would simply ride thru or around or over any obstructions. They would man up and just ignore some old woman's feeble placing of a few sticks. Much ado about nothing since mountain bikers have in the past illegally tailored the forest for their own benefits. This hypocritical behaviour highlights a sense of elitism and self-entitlement amongst the well-heeled bicyclists that is traditionally the home of rich old white women and men.
Quite frankly if you can't handle grandmother nature tossing you a challenge here or there then you should stick to Stanley Park.
Case dismissed.
Clearly your trolling.
So…as Cam noted in this article,
http://nsmb.com/saboteurs-husband/
specifically….
Despite Mr. Kraal admitting to being at war with mountain bikers, that isnt the most disturbing part of the letter. He goes on to say every morning we walk on the once beautiful trails and try to destroy the structures raised by people who have a total disregard and disrespect for nature.
Mr. Kraal admitted, in a public document, that he too has damaged trails. Indeed the actions he is referring to have the potential to cause even more serious injury. Several years ago I saw structures sabotaged but with all elements left in place so the damage was impossible to recognize. Luckily I was hiking and not riding when I found them, but the results could have been disastrous.
Then add in this discovery..
On the aforementioned occasion I noticed a new ladder bridge on a trail called Groovula. I hadnt ridden the trail in some time so I was interested to see this feature and determine if it was well built. A close examination revealed that all four legs were cut. Each cut was at a steep angle so that if weight, like that from a rider, had been applied to the platform, the entire structure would have collapsed; leaving four sharp wooden timbers pointing upward. I yanked the structure down so the next rider to come along wouldnt be impaled.
I didn't know setting up features to fail without notice was an acceptable par4t of mountain biking.
Sorry, but it is easy to say…"Oh, she only just put sticks and small logs on the trail" as a apologist. Shit like this is set up to hurt people simple. Similar to what Cam caught on Groovula just different province.
